Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of HeroBase (“Service”), operated by HeroBase (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of Service

HeroBase is a web application for comic book collectors. The Service includes an AI-powered comic scanner (X-Ray), collection management (Arsenal), wishlist management (Hunt), market trend data (Pulse), and social features. The Service is provided as-is and we reserve the right to modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice.

2. User Accounts

You must create an account to use most features of HeroBase. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You may not share your account or create accounts for others. You must provide accurate information when creating your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to reverse engineer or extract the underlying AI models or Comic Intelligence Database; (c) scrape or systematically extract data from the Service; (d) impersonate others or create misleading profiles; (e) upload content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights; (f) attempt to circumvent rate limits or access controls.

4. Intellectual Property

Your data: You retain ownership of your personal collection data — the comics you've added, your condition grades, purchase prices, and notes. You can export this data at any time.

HeroBase property: HeroBase owns the Comic Intelligence Database (including all AI-generated comic metadata, summaries, and significance notes), the HeroBase brand, and the underlying software. Comic Intelligence Database entries are derived from AI analysis and community contributions — they are not owned by any individual user.

Comic cover images: Comic book cover art is the property of respective publishers. Images uploaded for scanning are used solely to power the identification feature.

5. Pro Subscription

HeroBase Hero, Champion, and Legend are paid subscriptions billed monthly or annually. Subscription fees are charged in advance. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days' notice.

Free plan users are subject to usage limits (5 scans/month, 25 comics in Arsenal) that may change with notice.

6. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting legal@herobasehq.com. Upon termination, your personal data will be deleted within 30 days in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

7. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. AI-generated valuations are estimates only — they are not financial advice and should not be relied upon for buying or selling decisions. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HEROBASE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict of law principles.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
